Agent profiles and templates
Every agent in Agent Builder has a profile: a display name, a title, an avatar, and a standing description of what it does. Profiles are what make your agent list feel like a team instead of a settings table — and they’re also how you package an agent up to share it, as a template, with another site.
Overview
From Agent Builder → Agents, each agent card shows its profile and gives you a set of controls:
- Display name, title, avatar, and description — how the agent presents itself in chat, in Tasks, and across the admin
- Pin — keep an agent at the top of your list
- Hide — tuck an agent out of the everyday list without disabling it
- Reorder — drag agents into the order that makes sense for your site
- Duplicate — clone an existing agent as a starting point for a new one
- Export as template / Import a template — package an agent’s configuration up to reuse on another site

None of this changes what an agent can actually do — tool access and risk gating are controlled separately from Tools and Safety Center. Profiles are about identity and organization: which agents you see first, how they’re labeled, and how easily you can spin up variations of one you already trust.
How to
Edit an agent’s profile
- Go to Agent Builder → Agents
- Open the agent you want to edit
- Update its display name, title, avatar, and standing description
- Save — the new profile shows up immediately in chat, Tasks, and the admin agent list

Pin, hide, and reorder agents
- On the Agents screen, use the pin icon on any agent card to keep it at the top of your list
- Use the hide option on an agent you don’t use often — it stays installed and usable, just out of the default view
- Drag a card to a new position to reorder the whole list
Duplicate an agent
- Open the agent you want to base a new one on
- Click Duplicate
- A copy is created with its own profile — rename it, adjust its description, and change its tool access as needed
Export an agent as a template, and import it elsewhere
- Open the agent you want to share, and choose Export as template
- Save the downloaded template file
- On the destination site, go to Agent Builder → Agents → Import template
- Choose the file — the agent is created there with the same profile and configuration

FAQ
Does duplicating an agent also copy its tool permissions?
Yes — a duplicate starts with the same tool access and settings as the original. Review and adjust them afterward if the new copy needs a different scope; nothing is shared or linked between the original and the copy once it’s created.
If I hide an agent, does it stop working?
No. Hiding only affects where the agent shows up in your everyday list — it can still be assigned tasks, still runs scheduled jobs, and still appears wherever you explicitly select it. To actually stop an agent from running, disable it from its own settings, or use Emergency Stop for everything at once.
Can I import a template exported from an older version of Agent Builder?
Templates are versioned, and Agent Builder upgrades an older template’s format automatically on import where it can. If a template references a tool or setting that no longer exists, the import notes what was skipped so you can review the agent afterward.
What exactly is in an exported template file?
The agent’s profile (name, title, avatar, description), its instructions, and its tool/skill configuration. It does not include your API keys, credentials, or any conversation history — those stay local to your site.
Is there a limit to how many custom agents I can create?
No — the free core plugin doesn’t cap the number of agents you create or duplicate. Agent Builder Pro and the marketplace add optional premium agents you can install on top of your own.
